La piel donde me hallo — Kaaffilm archive

Throughout the country's history, transgender people in Paraguay have experienced discrimination and the undermining of their human rights. The dictatorship has left the marks of torture on their skin, and those who survived, democracy has not vindicated them. Today in Paraguay, human rights organizations are the space from which people fight for the most basic rights, such as the right to a name, to study or to a decent job, to be respected, in a country where a gender law is still far away due to the socio-political context. The skin where I am me, besides being a record of testimonies, memory and experiences of trans struggle, is a metaphor of the scars and marks they carry on their skin, the skin they choose to live from the dignity and struggle, without ceasing to be who they are, and with joy and love as a flag.
