When The Tiger Roars
The short film When the Tiger Roars was shot in a remote mountain village in my hometown, Chaozhou, a small city in southern China. The inspiration for this short film comes from a close childhood friend of mine. After his parents divorced, he lived alone with his father. As communication decreased and teenage rebellion set in, their father-son relationship grew distant. However, an unexpected incident of school bullying prompted his father to step up silently, breaking the silence between them. Due to cultural reasons, I have always believed that the father-son relationship in China is one of the most complex relationships in the world—an invisible struggle filled with profound love.
