What are the most formidable challenges inherent to the profession of filmmaking?

The most demanding task for someone like me who works in a small and relatively independent company is to maintain creative quality while having to carry out all the tasks that an audiovisual production entails.

Could you elucidate on the central thematic underpinning of your film?

Today we live a relationship with sex based on immediacy, impersonality and consumption, where we objectify people and where we falsify the experience. This short film wants to highlight sex as a place of meeting and dialogue.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 
 

How do you navigate the task of strategizing cost-effective promotional efforts when operating within a constrained budget?

I think that by being clear about the story and the meaning it has, you can create a strategy and focus efforts. Nowadays, the Internet is a tool that allows access to international festivals more easily than years ago. But it is still difficult, it is a challenge that you experience daily.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In today's dynamic marketplace, how pivotal do you consider the role of film distribution?

From my point of view it has a fundamental role. Stories are created to be seen, the more the better, and for there to be an exchange, a dialogue between a team and the public. Distributors make it easier for this to happen, and they carry out work in the shadows that is sometimes forgotten.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For individuals contemplating the path of self-distribution, what counsel or insights can you offer?

First, be very clear that it is complicated: combining self-distribution with one’s own life raises many problems. The use of the Internet, information through platforms and having a project with clear intentions and objectives helps make this work concrete and specific. In your estimation, what level of significance do short films hold for aspiring filmmakers seeking to embark on a career in directing?

I think it is the first and necessary step to be able to create a narrative, a concept, and see if how you see the stories you record is how you want them to be seen. The short film allows for a very creative exploration that you can then use as language for more developed projects.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Reflecting on your professional journey thus far, could you share an instance of the most formidable challenge you encountered and how you surmounted it?

I think this story has been. Directing a story about women, forgetting all the conceptions, prejudices and limitations you have has meant a complete professional and personal recycling.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What, in your view, are the critical factors that contribute to the creation of a cinematic masterpiece?

A solid team that speaks the same language; financing that allows us to do things well and, above all, a story that has something important to remind us of. A masterpiece has many thinking heads and many wills believing in the same project.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

If you could revisit the inception of your career, are there any aspects or decisions you would choose to alter in hindsight?

I have always believed that every step you have taken, every slip you suffered, has brought you to the moment you are in. And that is one’s path. I have only received teachings that have made me grow. I’m happy with them, I wouldn’t change anything.
