What are the most challenging aspects of being a filmmaker?
What is your source of inspiration for this short film?
Consequences of the events of January in Kazakhstan. 238 people died and thousands brought under torture in prisons. However, many people talked about material damage. Seeing this, I decided to make this short film.
What is the theme of this film?
I wanted to say: “There is nothing more valuable than human life and the loss of loved ones is a terrible tragedy.
How do you decide on possible ways to promote your film when you are on a tight budget?
We used the Film Freeway platform. I only submitted the film to free film festivals.
How important do you think distribution is in today's marketplace?
For those considering self-distribution, what is your advice?
It’s good if there is someone professional in the promotion, and the director will only think about creativity. But when you’re a beginner director and you don’t have a distributor, then you have to learn how to make it yourself. And I think the most optimal and good option is FilmFreeway.
How significant do you think short films are for someone venturing into directing films?
There is creative freedom in a short film. You can be yourself. You can experiment, you can be wrong. It’s like the sand by the sea, you can create different shapes from the sand. A feature film is a sea, the deeper, the more exciting. But this is no longer playing with sand, this is responsibility.
What was the worst challenge of your career so far? How did you take it over?
I am too young to answer this question. I am an aspiring author. I have only one enemy now, and that is laziness.
What are the factors to making a good film?
Injustice.
Is there anything you would change if you could go back to the beginning?
