Marco Renda: “TIGHT BUDGET IS ALWAYS A CHALLENGE”
Marco Renda was born in Bari in 1984. He studied directing at Pigrecoemme (2003) and graduated in film directing at the Nuova Università del Cinema (2004). In 2008 with Batman Senza Confine, he was selected at the Experimental Center of Cinematography. Marco also has a degree in Literature and won a scholarship at Benetton’s Fabrica in 2009. He has directed numerous shorts and commercials, both in film and digitally. With the short film Sugar Plum Fairy, he obtained dozens of awards and prizes in Italy worldwide. He has also worked for many fictions covering various roles from operator to the second unit director. In 2010 he co-directed Amore Nero with Raoul Bovaa, a short film with the theme of violence against women. Edhel is his first feature film which he co-directed with Raoul Bova in 2020.

How do you decide on possible ways to promote your film when you are on a tight budget?
The priority is always to have a distribution. find solutions on set to every problem.
How important do you think distribution is in today's marketplace?

Carefully evaluate the festivals and find out which one to register for based on the type of film that you made.
How significant do you think short films are for someone venturing into directing films?
Short films are fundamental not only do they make you famous, but also they allow you to express yourself while waiting to make a feature film.
